Become Your Life's Curator: Transform Your World with the 'Useful and Beautiful' Method
Share
Do you ever look around a space in your home and find yourself despairing at all the clutter?
Do you start a sort out and wonder why you bought any of it in the first place?
We know that feeling well!
In a world where we're bombarded with advertising, the latest trends and influencers who assure us they have the next big thing, it is easy to miss what Morris reveals in his pearl of wisdom.
But by asking ourselves these questions: Is it useful? Is it beautiful? we find the solution to keeping the clutter out and increasing the joy in our lives.
What do we mean by curator?
A curator of a museum will carefully choose the artefacts they want and source them for their exhibition. Curators choose those artefacts that tell a story and reveal what life was like in years past.
As you begin to choose your joyful life, you start to enjoy every element that makes up your existence.
- Meaningful relationships: Friends who share not just meals and wine, but their authentic selves
- Purposeful spaces: A home filled with cherished photos, vibrant curtains, cosy reading nooks, and practical solutions
- Personal enrichment: Novels that transport you to new worlds
- Creative outlets: Craft projects that calm your mind after busy day
The Power of Curation
Here's the empowering truth: You are already the curator of your own joy. By embracing this mindset, you gain clarity about what truly belongs in your life—and what doesn't.
Envision Your Ideal Life:
- What goals inspire you?
- How do you spend your days?
- Where do you live?
- Where do you find peace?
- What surrounds and supports you?
Now compare this to the reality of your life now.
- Are your commitments based on obligation rather than joy?
- Are you holding onto items out of guilt?
- Are you avoiding positive changes because they feel overwhelming?
Often, saying No or letting go is the hardest part, but it's essential for curating a joyful life.
But when we take charge of our own joy, we are empowered to make changes.
Let's start small, right in your own home.
Your First Curation Exercise
Think of, or find three items:
- Something useful you can't live without. Express gratitude for its role in your life.
- Something beautiful that brings you joy. Display it prominently as a reminder of the life you're building.
- Something that no longer serves you. Create a plan to responsibly remove it.
This is just the beginning—curation can transform every aspect of your life.

Over the next few months our CURATE JOY series will combine suggestions for searching out items you already own, and we'll also be showcasing our products so you can begin to exercise your curating muscles.
We don't ever want you to feel that all we do is sell to you. We can't stand the barrage of emails that land in our inbox multiple times a day!
We also don't want you to feel pressure or think that our products are a cure all - they will bring joy but can't solve all life's problems.
But we obviously need to tell you about our products in order to do business; these posts will have links to products which will always be clearly labelled so you'll always know exactly what you're getting.
And when you're ready to buy...
Pause.
Your Curation Toolkit
Before any purchase, ask yourself:
- Is it useful?
- Is it beautiful?
- Does it bring me joy?
If you can answer YES to at least one, ideally two, then you're on to a winner.
Happy curating!
